Cancer Diets

Like cleanses and detoxes, cancer diets are usually considered in one of two ways. The first way a cancer diet is considered is that it is chosen as a preventative, on-going daily diet. The second way a cancer diet is considered is for special needs, designed to not compete with any treatments, but aids in digestion or absorption of nutrients.

As stated previously, it is important to balance the diet with adequate amounts of water/fluids, plenty of veggies, fruits, and moderate amounts of protein. Besides all the recent news about certain foods helping prevent cancer, ones that don\'t get a lot of attention are broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, soy and meat/dairy*.

This is not to advocate the consumption/over eating of any particular food. but to let the reader know the sulfur in these foods provide great support for the immune system. They also help balance other glands and organs, aid in cell function and gently detox the body. Another item is fiber. While we all hear about the benefits of fiber, one that benefit not mentioned is how fiber (especially certain types) stimulate butyrate and the growth of healthy bacteria. Wheat bran** is one of these fibers, it\'s insolvable, so it bulks and scrubs well; plus it\'s one of the best for getting healthy bacteria to increase.

Another important thing is while raw foods, which are generally considered best. However, if there is a digestive imbalance already, or the body is under a lot of stress, it may not be possible to digest raw foods. This is why a doctor or practitioner may suggest steamed or lightly cooked foods, so the breakdown process of hard to digest foods has already started. And, yes this does includes juices.

Some people don\'t have the enzyme ability to even digest the particular type or pulp in fresh juice. Again, if you aren\'t sure about your diet, consult a doctor or practitioner. Many of them are now well versed on what foods are considered preventative, or those best to support any medical needs.

* make sure to use substitutes for any soy or meat/dairy if they had allergies or intolerances, ** wheat bran is the outer husk, contains no wheat gluten and is generally regarded as safe for those with wheat allergies/sensitivities.
